Im in a dilema?

I was working full time job bringing home 1100per mth, I fell pregnant and gave birth to my daughter Dec, Im now on maternity leave until July, I am a 28yr old single person, I was living in rented acc but it was expensive and extremly noisy being right next to pub with music and fighting until 2 in the morning, so i left, have been living with my brother in his house, but things are getting too cramped as my room is 6' x 5' my baby needs room for cot, also tempers are fraying...I cannot afford rent of 500+ per mnth, Im not sure if the council will house me, but a friend of mine said I will not get house for 18mnths, so Im here at my brothers, extremely depressed and uptight........... would I get help if i did go and rent a place, the cheapest here is 545per month...anyone been in similar situation...I am NOT one for scrounging, I have always worked
