Wal-mart $4 generic prescription in a blue plastic box?

So I went to walmart today to pick up some meds (citalopram hbr) and instead of a little orange bottle, I find two large rectangular plastic blue boxes with a sheet (plastic and foil) of tablets. Does anyone know what's up with this? It's quite inconvenient, especially since the days of the week printed on the back don't really go with my dr's instructions. It also seems like an incredible waste of space shipping and the plastic used in the numerous boxes that are oversized and clunky.
